The short answer
Loch Lomond Hotel Cameron House is a five-star resort on the loch shore at Balloch, with a spa, two golf courses, eight or more places to eat and drink, and a marina. You do not have to be staying to use some of it: non-residents can book the Cameron Spa, and the resort says it welcomes locals and visitors in its restaurants. Glasgow is about 40 minutes away by the resort's own account, and what to do around the loch covers the alternatives if a resort day is not for you.
What the resort offers
Staying at the resort
Cameron House lists hotel suites and bedrooms, Auld House suites, lodges, The Carrick lodges and Mansion House apartments, and says it is pet-friendly under its own policy. We give no room rates, because the resort publishes none on the pages we read. The best Balloch stays puts it beside the other options at the south end of the loch.
Cameron Spa at The Carrick
The spa is open daily from 7am to 9pm. Non-residents can book treatments and experiences. On 13 October 2026 a two-hour thermal experience was £55 per person and included the rooftop infinity pool, with free cancellation up to 24 hours before. The minimum age for treatments and the hydro spa experience is 18. Swimming is part of a spa booking rather than a separate ticket on the pages we read, so ring spa reservations on 01389 312 267 if you only want the pool.
Eating and drinking
The resort lists Cameron Grill, La Vista for waterside pizza, pasta and seafood, LOMA by Graeme Cheevers, The Tavern, The Clubhouse, the Great Scots whisky bar, The Lobby Bar, Café Spa and afternoon tea. Breakfast runs daily from 7am to 10:30am, the dress code in the hotel restaurants is smart casual, and children are welcome with an accompanying adult. Book ahead: the resort recommends it, and gives no walk-in policy for individual venues. Pubs and tearooms in Balloch covers the cheaper, drop-in end of the market.
Golf
The Carrick is an 18-hole championship course with notable changes of height and views from the 10th and 14th holes. You book a round through the resort's online system or on 01389 312 210. The resort page does not say whether non-residents can play, so ask when you book. Golf around the loch compares it with the other courses.
Weddings and events
The Loch Lomond Suite seats up to 320 guests, the Loch Fyne Suite up to 180 and the Loch Katrine Suite up to 80, with outdoor ceremonies on the loch shoreline. For options and comparisons see wedding venues.
Next door
The resort sits on the south-west shore, close to Balloch. The village of Balloch has the station, the castle park and the cruise piers, and Loch Lomond Shores is a short hop away.
How long to allow
These are planning estimates built from the resort's published opening hours and the spa booking length. They are not timed visits.
| Time you have | What fits | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| A drink or coffee | Breakfast runs from 7am to 10:30am, and the bars and the afternoon tea are listed on the dining page. | Check the venue's hours on the day, as we found no walk-in policy. |
| Half a day | A two-hour spa slot plus a meal. | Spa treatments need a booking and a minimum age of 18. |
| A full day | Spa, lunch and a walk by the marina or into Balloch, or a round on The Carrick. | Book golf and the spa separately. |
| A night or two | A suite, a lodge or an apartment, with dinner on site. | Ask the resort about dog policy and parking when you book. |
