The short answer
SEA LIFE Loch Lomond is an indoor aquarium inside Loch Lomond Shores at Balloch. It opens 10am to 5pm with last entry at 3:50pm on the dates we checked (12 and 13 October 2026), and the operator says booking online is essential. Adult tickets start at £14 in advance and cost £21 on the day. It works for families with young children and for wet weather. If you would rather be out in the landscape, more days out around the loch lists the alternatives.
What you get
Seven themed zones
The operator lists over 1,500 creatures across seven themed zones, including a Tropical Ocean Tunnel with blacktip sharks and rays. It names April, a rescued Olive Ridley turtle, and Cub, an Asian short-clawed otter.
Booking and changes
Booking online is essential, because visitor numbers are limited. The operator’s Booking Guarantee lets you reschedule tickets free if your plans change, which helps on a changeable-weather day.
Cafe and toilets
There is a cafe and there are toilets on site. For a wider choice, food and drink in Balloch covers the town.
Pair it with a cruise
A SEA LIFE and loch cruise ticket is listed online from £39 per adult. Boat trips and cruises compares every operator if you would rather choose your own boat.
Around the aquarium
The aquarium sits at the south end of the loch. Balloch and what to do there covers the village and the castle park, and sleeping in Balloch the overnight options.
Tickets and deals
Book with the official SEA LIFE site first. If we add partner booking links beside it, they will be labelled, and we may earn a commission explains how.
How long to allow
The operator does not publish a visit length, so these are planning estimates built from the opening hours, not timed visits.
| Time you have | What fits | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| A short stop | Walk through the zones and the ocean tunnel without lingering. | Last entry is 3:50pm on the dates we checked, so arrive well before it. |
| Half a day | SEA LIFE, then lunch at the Shores and a walk along the water. | Outdoor areas at the Shores never close. |
| A full day | SEA LIFE, a loch cruise and the shops without rushing. | A SEA LIFE and cruise ticket is listed from £39 per adult online. |
| A wet day | The aquarium and the Shores shops are indoors. Most of the rest is outdoors. | Free rescheduling means a bad forecast need not cost you the ticket. |
