Should you stay in Balloch?
Yes, if you want trains from Glasgow, a choice of beds and food, and the Shores, SEA LIFE and the loch cruises within reach. No, if you want a quiet shore: Luss and Balmaha feel more like villages on the water. Balloch is also the easiest base to reach without a car, because the train and bus stops are in town.
Four places gave us facts we could check from their own websites. The Loch Lomond Hotel is a large, newly built hotel central by the train station, with plentiful free parking and dog-friendly standard rooms. The Waterhouse Inn has seven hotel rooms above a lounge bar and a cafe bar. Balloch House is an Innkeeper's Collection inn with B&B rooms. Cameron House is a five-star resort on the shore with a spa, two golf courses and eight or more places to eat.
