About this guide
Visit Loch Lomond is an independent guide to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, written and kept up to date by one person.
Last updated 12 October 2026.
Who writes it
The author is Jere Salmisto. The guide is not run by a tourist board, a hotel or a tour operator, and it is not affiliated with VisitScotland or the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park Authority.
The aim is simple: tell you what a place is, who it suits, what it costs and whether it is worth the trip, in plain words, before you set off.
How it is researched
Facts such as prices, opening times, parking charges and routes come from official and operator sources: councils, the National Park, Forestry and Land Scotland, NatureScot and the businesses themselves. Each page shows a “last checked” date, and facts are re-checked every three to six months. How we verify prices and times explains the method in full.
Where we cannot find a reliable source, we say so and tell you how to check, rather than guess. How we write and update guides sets out the rules we hold ourselves to.
What the author has not done
The author has not visited every place in this guide, and the pages do not claim first-hand visits. The guide is built from research, not from a travel diary. If something on a page is out of date or wrong, please say so.
How the site pays for itself
Some pages may carry labelled partner links or adverts in future. How we earn from links explains how that works and why it never changes a verdict.
