Where can you camp near Drymen?
Mainly at Drymen Camping, on Gartness Road (G63 0DN), which describes itself as on the West Highland Way and National Cycle Route 7. It has standard pitches for tents up to a small four-person size, family-size pitches for larger tents and campervans (no motorhomes or caravans), a LandPod, two Green Pods and two Kocoons. Toilets, hot showers, charging points and Wi-Fi are included in the price, and the reception shop sells snacks, TentMeals and gas canisters. The site says that following the postcode takes you to a neighbouring farm, so search for it by name.
Dates and prices matter here. The 2026 season ran from Saturday 14 March to Sunday 11 October, so it had ended when we checked on 13 October 2026, and we have not seen 2027 dates. In 2026 a standard pitch was £14 per adult per night, with children under 5 free and under 14 at £8, and the pods cost £52 to £120 a night. Check the site's booking calendar for current rates.
The site says it sits before the start of the National Park's camping management zone, so the permit rules are a separate matter. In the zones on the loch shores a permit is needed from 1 March to 30 September, at £4.50 per tent or motorhome per night for up to three nights in one area, and camping there without one can lead to a fine of up to £500. From 1 October 2026 to 28 February 2027 no permit is needed in the zones.

How to camp near Drymen
Decide how you are walking
Drymen is a natural overnight stop on the West Highland Way. Milngavie to Drymen is about 19 km, and Drymen to Balmaha is about 11 km over Conic Hill. For the whole route, the West Highland Way on foot has the sections.
Book your pitch
Use the booking calendar on the site's own page. A 30% deposit is due at booking and the balance 30 days before check-in. Arrivals without a booking depend on space and can be charged at a higher rate. For a group of six or more, contact the site first: it does not take large groups who are not walking or cycling an established route such as the West Highland Way.
Find the site
It is about 2 km from the centre of Drymen, on Gartness Road. Search for it by name, or use the what3words address on the site, because the postcode leads to a neighbouring farm.
Eat and shop
The reception shop sells snacks, TentMeals and gas canisters. For a pub meal the site lists The Clachan, The Drymen Inn, The Winnock and the Buchanan Arms Hotel in the village. Food and drink in Drymen has more.
Check the weather
A tent is only as good as the forecast. The best months to come shows which months suit camping, and the 2026 season at the site ran from mid-March to mid-October.
Check before you go
