Where can you eat in Callander?

Callander has a mix of town-centre cafes and out-of-town pubs. In the centre, the Old Bank Restaurant on Main Street and the Mhor Bread bakery and tearoom serve breakfast, lunch and baking. The Abbotsford, on Stirling Road, is a hotel with a restaurant. A mile north at Kilmahog, The Lade Inn is a pub restaurant that welcomes dogs, and Venachar Lochside has a seasonal restaurant on the loch shore.

We list a venue only when we have read its own website or a local listing for it. Callander has other pubs, takeaways and cafes, but we could not verify them, so we do not name them. We give no hours, ratings or prices: they change, and the venues’ own pages are the place for them.

Decide where to eat before you park, because the council car parks charge by the band. The Callander parking rules have the tariff, and the village of Callander has the rest of the plan.

How to choose

  1. Decide what you want

For a pub meal with the dog, choose The Lade Inn. For a sit-down lunch or high tea in town, the Old Bank Restaurant describes both. For bread, pies and a quick bite, Mhor Bread is a bakery with a tearoom. For an evening meal in a hotel, The Abbotsford has a restaurant.

  2. Park first, then walk

Callander’s three council car parks, Riverside, Station Road and Riverside (Meadows), charge £3 for 2 hours, £4 for 4 hours and £6 for the day. Charges run from 8:45am to 5pm, including Sundays, and cash or RingGo works. The Station Road toilets are open from 8am to 6pm every day. Charges do not run in the evening, but read the sign.

  3. Allow for the Lade Inn’s distance

The Lade Inn is a mile north of the town at Kilmahog, so plan a drive, a taxi or a longer walk. Its page gives no parking details, so ask when you book. Bus C60 from Killin to Callander passes through Kilmahog, but check the timetable on the day.

  4. Book where the venue asks you to

The Lade Inn recommends booking. We found no booking rule on the other pages, so phone ahead for a large group or a weekend evening.

  5. Stay the night
