Where can you camp near Aberfoyle?
Mainly at Cobleland Campsite on Station Road, Gartmore (FK8 3RR), in Queen Elizabeth Forest Park on the banks of the River Forth. It takes tents and motorhomes on meadow and woodland pitches, plus glamping safari tents, has toilet blocks, and welcomes dogs. The site's own page gave no season dates or prices, so check them before you travel.
The other site on the National Park's list under Aberfoyle is Trossachs Holiday Park, also at Gartmore (FK8 3SA), which offers camping pitches and pods among its holiday homes. Its own page gave no pitch numbers, season or prices. The National Park's own tent-only sites are Loch Chon, 6.9 miles west of Aberfoyle on the B829, and Loch Achray, an informal site on the shore of Loch Achray, six miles west of Callander. Both were shown as closed for the season on 13 October 2026.
Between 1 March and 30 September, camping in the National Park's camping management zones is only possible in a campsite or with a permit, at £4.50 per tent or motorhome per night for up to three nights in one area. Trossachs West and Trossachs North are two of the four zones, but the byelaw pages name no places, so check the zone map before you pitch on a shore. From 1 October 2026 to 28 February 2027 no permit is needed in the zones. A breach can mean a fine of up to £500.
