How to camp near Inversnaid

  1. Choose your kind of night

A pitch at the bunkhouse with a restaurant on site, a National Park campsite on the B829, or a permit pitch on the shore. Each is booked differently, so decide first.

  2. Get there

The B829 from Aberfoyle is 12 miles of single track, according to the RSPB. The easier way in is the boat: Cruise Loch Lomond runs at least three cruises a day from Tarbet to Inversnaid in high season. Where to park in Inversnaid has the two car parks.

  3. Ask the bunkhouse

Phone before you go, because the page shows no camping price, no pitch numbers and no season. If you arrive by boat or on the West Highland Way, ask about the free pick-up.

  4. Pack for the weather

Showers, a drying room and a restaurant help at the bunkhouse, but permit pitches on the shore have no facilities. When to visit shows the months.

  5. Plan a roof as a fallback

A bed for the night in Inversnaid covers the hotel and the bunkhouse rooms if the forecast turns.
