Milngavie (pronounced Mill-Guy), is situated just 6 miles NW of Glasgow and can traces its history back to medieval times. The central precinct is a pleasant place to stroll, and is the starting point for the West Highland Way. Mugdock Country Park in Milngavie was home to the noble Graham family for many centuries. Today, its natural surroundings and formal landscapes offer a pleasurable day out for all. Great for walking, cycling, horse-riding with activities such as orienteering, archery, ranger-led outings and kids’ outdoor play. There are excellent facilities including BBQ area, cafe, restaurant, garden centre, gift shop, craft and art gallery, mini cinema and theatre.
The neighbouring town of Bearsden is a dormitory town serving Glasgow. Near Bearsden Cross is the remains of a Roman bath house and the foundations of Antonine Wall can be seen within New Kilpatrick Cemetery, located on Boclair Road.
