What the Ground Gets Up To - An exhibition by Frances Corr

Gongoozler - An exhibition by Lesley Banks

This work is a result of a residency at Scottish Canals funded by Creative Scotland and supported by Scottish Canals and Falkirk Community Trust. The project offers a reflexive journey along Scotland's 137 miles of canal from the perspective of the pedestrian on the towpath. Each canal has its own personality and suggested differing and challenging forms of representation. The exhibition aims to provide a narrative structure that brings each separate journey together in sequential form. It is a visual conversation that charts returning walks along the towpaths. The work pays attention to the changing seasons, the dramatic weather conditions, as much as to the hour of the day.

Sarturday 8th July to Thursday 3rd August
Lillie Art Gallery, Milngavie
Seasons Dancing - An exhibition by Marie Barbour

From her studio in Glasgow's East End the artist produces works on paper and oil paintings. The main subject is nature as this is the artist's inspiration whether it is found in the city or in the countryside. She explores the seasons and their impact on our environment while seeking out hidden places in the city where the natural world flourishes. The works strive to communicate the enduring qualities of the untouched physical world and the serenity to be found in its solitude.  The subjects evoke memories and recall events, people and places. Each painting has a story and elicits a personal reminiscence.
