Win two nights bed & breakfast and Visit Loch Lomond
Killearn conservation village lies on the Highland Boundary Fault, the imaginary divide that separates Highland from Lowland Scotland. This peaceful, very picturesque village in west central Scotland, nestles at the foot of the scenic Campsie Fells and is within easy reach of Loch Lomond as well as the cities of Glasgow and Stirling.
The Buchanan Monument, located in the village across from the Killearn Hotel, was erected in 1788 to commemorate George Buchanan (1506-1582). George Buchanan was a great scholar and tutor to King James VI of Scotland (and I of England). He was born at The Moss in Killearn and started his education in the village before studying in St Andrews and Paris.
