Camping Regulations in the National Park

Loch Lomond National park is popular with campers, camper vans and motorhomes, however be aware that there are four Camping Mangement Zones and Permit Areas are in operation during March to September. Covering approximately 4% of the total National Park area, they are mainly alongside the shores of Loch Lomond and other lochs in the Park. Camping within these zones will only be possible in campsites or with a camping permit which has to be bought in advance allowing you to have a wild camping experience in designated areas.

More details on the byelaws and permits can be found here.

Take to the Water this Spring

Get onboard and witness spectacular scenery and explore the natural beauty and wonders of Loch Lomond from the water. Traditionally, the boating season and watersports activities begin around Easter. Boating on Loch Lomond can be as exciting or relaxing as you like. Take a jaunt around the Loch on one of the cruise boats to take advantage of the Loch Lomond Waterbus service which links west, east and south shore locations like Luss, Balmaha, Balloch, Tarbet, Inversnaid and Rowardennan.

Remember, it is a legal requirement that all owners of motorised craft need to register their craft with Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park Authority and display the registration number on their craft before going onto Loch Lomond.

Best British Walks

Britain’s Favourite Walks: Top 100 was broadcast on ITV earlier this year. Presenters Julia Bradbury and Ore Oduba showcased 100 favourite walks in the UK.

The popular West Highland Way long distance footpath from Milngavie to Fort William was featured at number 14.

Walking is one of Britain’s best loved pastimes, with around nine million of us enjoying putting our hiking boots on and heading for the Great Outdoors every month.

Year of Young People 2018

This year, Scotland puts its young people in the spotlight, celebrating their achievements and talents, valuing their contribution to local communities and to the cultural and creative life of Scotland. Aiming to inspire Scotland through its young people, this year's initiative focuses on 8-26 year olds and families with children to engage with the activities and experiences Scotland has to offer.

This themed year programme also showcases the amazing talents of the young through events, and providing opportunities to express themselves through culture, sport and other activities.
