Short Breaks This Autumn

Autumn in Scotland is one of the most beautiful times of the year, punctuated with beautiful autumn colours.

The landscape is transformed by a breathtaking explosion of colour - purple hued heathers, green, yellow, gold, ochre, orange, bronze, burgundy, brown and russet red. As the days get colder and shorter, enjoy glorious seasonal colours and magnificent sunsets - autumn has the lot!  It’s a photographer’s and artist’s dream!

Take advantage of some great autumn offers and enjoy a short break - click here to view short breaks on Loch Lomond.

What's On Loch Lomond

Head to the National Park this autumn and check out What's On at Loch Lomond. Within easy reach of Glasgow, Stirling and Edinburgh, escape the city and enjoy great days out and enjoy popular events this season including the Loch Lomond Food & Drink Festival at Lomond Shores, music festivals, walking and wildlife events.

Join us this autumn for the Ben Lomond Torchlight Challenge, or to visit the farmers' markets or see some fantastic firework displays across the loch on Guy Fawkes night.

CowalFest 2017

CowalFest offers a ten day walking and outdoors festival around the Cowal peninsula from 6th to 15th October. This annual festival is one of the largest and most varied walking festivals in Scotland, with many walks led by expert and knowledgeable walk leaders. This year we are pleased to welcome Paul Kerr as our patron for CowalFest 2017.

All ages and abilities are catered for and the walks cover interest areas of wildlife, bird watching, art, heritage, folklore, tai chi, great gardens, and some great hill walks. For more details, visit cowalfest.org

Callander Jazz Festival

The Callander Jazz & Blues Festival has been first held in 2006 and is now the largest rural jazz/blues festival in Scotland. The festival has grown every year, with last year's event featuring over 45 gigs at 18 venues, performing live jazz, blues, soul and boogie over 3 days. This year marks the 12th annual Festival, which runs from Friday 29th September until Sunday 1st October. Come and join us for a fantastic weekend of fun and music in the beautiful setting of Callander, situated only 16 miles from the M9 on the main A84 trunk road at the eastern gateway to the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park.

BBC Countryfile Calendar 2018 Photo Contest

John Craven recently revealed the 12 final photos in the Countryfile Calendar 2018 photo contest. The theme for this year's competition was 'Call of the Wild' and the best 12 photographs of beautiful landscapes, wildlife and other rural scenes have been chosen and will be used to make up the Countryfile Calendar for 2018, which is sold in aid of BBC Children in Need. With more than 30,000 photos entered, the standard was incredibly high. Our favourite image of course is the November finalist, Highland Majesty by Michael Cheetham which was taken on Conic Hill, Loch Lomond.

The overall winner will be unveiled on the show on 1st October and the Countryfile Calendar 2018 will then go on sale.

Enjoy The Changing Face of Nature

If you love the great outdoors you will love autumn at Loch Lomond where you can witness the changing face of nature. Go on a fungi hunt amongst the fantastic mix of oak woodlands, wetlands and pine forests. Autumn also brings its own particular wildlife spectacles with birds gathering in family groups before migrating for winter. Catch sight of majestic red deer stags as they fight for the control of a hind herd during the rutting season.

Take time to visit Loch Lomond this autumn when the landscape transforms and a sense of relaxation takes over the landscape.

Scotland - The Most Beautiful Country

The readers of Rough Guide recently voted Scotland as “the most beautiful country in the world”, beating Canada to the number one slot in the top 20 countries. Who can deny that our wild beaches, deep lochs and craggy castles are some of the most wonderful and beautiful sights in the world? Of course we are biased and think Loch Lomond is the most beautiful place in Scotland!
