Situated 6 miles north of Glasgow you will find us resting in the peaceful town of Milngavie in the Scottish Highlands. A popular stop-off for those on the famous West Highland Way ramble were just twenty minutes from Glasgow yet a lifetime away from its hurried lifestyle. It really is the best of both worlds, so why not treat yourself?

OUTDOOR PURSUITS

With plenty to see and even more to do in this picturesque landscape whichever direction you choose you can't go wrong. Some of the more popular attractions of the area include the Trossachs National Park and Loch Katrine, famous for Walter Scott' and Rob Roy from the early 1800s. The history of the older day raiders, along with the stunning views from the hills, makes this a worthwhile destination. Loch Lomond, with its many activities and breathtaking views, is the largest loch in the UK, 24 miles long, and home to 38 islands. It's well worth the visit for the scenery alone. Finally there's the West Highland Way walk, the beginning (or end!) of which can be found in Milngavie town centre. Parts of the walk take you along military roads from the time of the Jacobites, along disused railways and through some of the most stunning wildlife, if you're lucky enough to catch them!

PLAYING AROUND

By choosing the West Highland Gate as your base itll be a challenge to fit it all in. The lively and adventurous might like to try their hand at the many watersports activities on the lochs that fall anywhere between cruising to jet-skiing or overnight canoeing camps!
For the calmer among us there is more choice still. There are country parks and gardens, notably the castle remains that can be found in Mugdock County Park (just north of the village), a wealth of public walkways, fishing and of course golf; the closest course to West Highland Gate being Esporta Milngavie.
