In Scotland there is no residential qualifications required for marriage.

Marriage notice forms have to be completed by both bride and groom and returned to the Registrar where the marriage is to take place, within 3 months but at least 14 clear days prior to the marriage. (Ideally submit forms 4 to 6 weeks before the wedding)

Both birth certificates should accompany the completed marriage forms, along with any additional documents that may be required. i.e. a death certificate if you are widowed or a divorce decree if you are divorced

If you are a foreign national, a Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage may have to be produced. The Registrar will advise you on these matters.

Two witnesses to the marriage are required and have to be aged 16 years or over.

If they are unable to understand or converse fluently in English, an interpreter will be required at the marriage. The Registrar will advise you on this issue.
